Concept Hotel Designed On The Iconic Hollywood Sign

Los Angeles’ iconic Hollywood sign is in a spot of bother. Private owners of the land around the sign are considering to sell their spaces to developers who many fear would use these areas commercially to build hotels or board up advertisements that might obscure the sign. To prevent this, the non-profit Public Trust For Lands group has stepped in and they are actively driving a campaign with a deadline to raise money for buying the land in question.

All legal issues aside, there is a Danish architect named Christian Bay-Jorgensen who has come up with a killer idea which he believes would solve the issue. He has proposed to convert the sign into a huge boutique hotel. In an interview he has expressed his desire to give this majestic structure an all new dimension. His plan is to make the hotel more touristic and even consider it as a possible venue for industry events like the Golden Globe and Oscar Award ceremonies. Though Christian’s vision (shown below) appears to be something that is not impossible at all, the general consensus among people in charge is that it is too far fetched an idea.

This hotel may not develop into anything more than an architect’s vision, but if it does we wouldn’t be complaining! Concept Hotel Designed On The Iconic Hollywood Sign

10 Drop Dead Gorgeous Bedrooms

We recently went around plucking bedroom pictures. And while doing that we fell. Not literally, but fell in love with some of these gorgeous ones we came across. Each bedroom that is featured below has a different story to tell. One transforms you into the victorian era, another takes you on a stroll through the rooms of a house on some deserted street. Some are beautifully lit, some have got even the simplest blinds going for them. Some are design wise pretty dramatic while some subtle. One even has a swimming pool thrown in! Basically each is different from the other and we sort of love this design hotch potch. Hope you would too. 10 Drop Dead Gorgeous Bedrooms

Beautiful All White House With Pool

With its stunning pool and impeccable style, The Sotogrande House is fit for a celebrity. The credit for its design goes to Spanish architectural firm A-cero. The design is fresh and exciting and you can’t stop but admire how serene the whole home looks. White dominates throughout and except for this minor(?) challenge of keeping it that way we really can’t find anything else to crib about this fabulous home.

Unlimited Designs in One Chair: ‘Stand Up’ Collection from Phillip Don

You’ve seen a lot of furniture designs here on Freshome which can suffer major transformation and become other useful home products. Here’s another idea that fits this description. The “Stand Up” collection from Philip Don comes with a catch. The chairs in this set can easily be re-shaped, twisted and moved around. This way they don’t only change their appearance but their purpose and functionality as well. Moving the slats up instantly creates a back support for the chair. Otherwise, by repositioning the vertical wooden bars you can get an impromptu book shelf. We salute this idea an are looking forward to more designs that can be easily transformed, reducing the need for space in an apartment. This is what we call original, practical and aesthetic. -via Home Tone

Inside Ferrari’s Factory in Maranello, Italy

Okay, we admit. It is going to take one heck of a write up to connect a Ferrari factory to anything ‘home’ and we are not even bothering. But this is something we thought you just wouldn’t want to miss: Ferrari’s state-of-the-art factory, in Maranello, Italy.

No public tours are offered at this facility and only a privileged few have access. The supercar’s production process is a curious combination of old-world craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology. At the assembly line one can see the construction from raw car to a complete, computer-diagnosed product. Rigorous testing follows and everything from the usual torque and power curve to air/fuel is carefully monitored, as in exhaust or emissions. Workers in full Ferrari-red regalia work around their work stations, smiles on their faces, and a tune whistling from their lips. Images and video below: (If you are reading this through email click here to view the video: http://www.home-designing.com/2010/04/ferrari-factory-interior )

Painting Home Walls, What a Way to Go!

This truly inspiring interior was achieved by hand painting. At a first glance, we thought this was a wallpaper, but we were really impressed when to find out that it wasn’t. This home arrangement belongs to an advertising creative from Manila and it was achieved by her father who is a painter.Pretty amazing, don’t you think? Sure, having a bit of courage and talent could contribute to some of the most original wall designs ever. In this particular case, the black slim branches with birds painted on a white background make for a very interesting atmosphere.  The simple, black and white furniture is in tune with the wall painting and creates a remarkable interior. If you had the chance, what would you paint in your dining room? -via Desire to Inspire
